Bring your camera to Richmond Hill and join in this 24-hour retreat. We will use the camera as a spiritual tool to help focus our attention on what is before us, beside us and within us. This retreat is not intended to be a technical course on how to use your camera or how to produce quality photographs. This retreat is to encourage a refinement in our ability to be present to this
moment, to look closely and patiently at what is with us where we are, and to examine how we might betterconnect with God by use of a camera lens.

April 28-29, 2012
Week-end Retreat at Richmond Hill, Richmond VA
Topic: Praying with Mandalas... Using Art to Speak to and Listen for God
What might you like to say to God in visual language? What might God like to speak to
you in similar ways? What can be said through image that cannot be spoken through word? This overnight retreat offers spaces in which to pray with mandalas. A mandala is a sacred circle... that represents wholeness. It is a symbol used throughout time by many cultures and religions. In this retreat we will learn techniques to creating and
utilizing mandalas as a sacred tool for self exploration and catalysts to deeper conversations with the Divine.
Suggested Donation: $80

Tending Teachers as the New School Year Approaches
(Open to teachers and those who believe in the soulful work of teachers)
Teachers love summers, and as summers wind down new feeling rise up. The very thought of a new school year is often full of excitement and anxiety. It takes great energy, enthusiasm, and wisdom to return to the classroom year after year. So with all of this on my mind...
On Monday, August 1st, I would like to open my home to teachers. I'd like for you to come with all of your thoughts and feelings for the upcoming school year..., and discover a wealth of support and compassion and joy for who you are and the gifts you bring. There will be great food, small gifts, encouraging conversation, and an open dialogue for ideas to be generated as to what supports might be helpful to put into place at the start of the new school year. The topic of finding and keeping an inner balance will also be explored!
I hope you will join in this time of refreshment from 9:30am until noon. (And hey! Why not plan to meet friends for lunch and then from there go for a massage?!! I'm just saying... it would make for a great, well-rounded day!!)
Donations of $10.00 per person would be greatly appreciated.
RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED... so...
Please contact me [email protected] to reserve your special spot for this gathering by July 20th... and feel free to invite and reserve spaces for other teaching friends. If you aren't a teacher but love teachers... you can come, too!

Seriously Fun…
A Retreat with Prayer
A friend asked me once what my idea of a really fun party might look like. I responded with, “A circle of women and candles and prayers and soft music and poetry… oh, and chocolate!” She seemed to think it odd to merge the word ‘party’ with prayer. Ahh… not so, my friends, not so! Let’s step over into this sacred fun as a way of replenishment for our own souls and for the tending of the world at large. Personally, I think Super Bowl week-end is the perfect time to engage in such!! Here’s what I’m envisioning:
Come on Saturday, February 5, 2011
from 12:30 until 4:00
to Kathy Guisewite’s cottage in the woods
I’m serving soup.
You may add any of the following:
Cheese and Crackers, Bread, Wine, Chocolate, or Your Favorite Something Else!
Bring:
Buttons, Beads, Charms, or Other Items that Can Slide onto Wire
(these will become a part of the serious fun!!)
Something to write on or in… a notebook or journal… and a pen
An open heart and an awareness that the work and play of the soul feeds more than the self
Donations to further Kathy’s work in the world are welcomed!
What to Expect (and Anticipate!)
A simple, yet elegant meal
Poetry that facilitates Prayer
A Women’s Circle… a time of sharing stories, dreams, needs
Creation: Prayer Beads
Prayer
Serious Fun!
